Red White and Blue Cake

🧁 The Concept

  • Red = fresh strawberries (the heart of the party)

  • White = classic whipped cream (timeless tradition)

  • Blue = blueberries (because liberty + antioxidants)

  • Shortcake biscuits = sturdy, reliable, no-nonsense base 💪

🛒 Ingredients

The Shortcake (The “Constitution”)

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ cup sugar

  • ½ cup cold butter, cubed

  • ⅔ cup heavy cream

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

The Red Filling

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced

  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • Splash of lemon juice

The White Layer

  • 1½ cups heavy whipping cream

  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla

The Blue Bonus

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries

🧑‍🍳 Instructions

1. Build the Foundation

  • Preheat oven to 425°F.

  • Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

  • Cut in cold butter until crumbly.

  • Stir in cream and vanilla.

  • Pat dough into a thick circle, cut into rounds.

  • Bake 12–15 minutes until golden and firm (strong institutions matter).

2. Prepare the Red States

  • Toss strawberries with sugar and lemon.

  • Let sit 20 minutes until juicy and bold.

3. Whip the Middle Ground

  • Whip cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.

  • Don’t overwhip—balance is patriotic.

4. Assemble the Union

  • Slice biscuit in half.

  • Spoon strawberries on the bottom.

  • Add whipped cream.

  • Sprinkle blueberries.

  • Top with biscuit crown 👑

🎉 Optional “Party Platform” Touches

  • Dust with powdered sugar like fresh snowfall at Mount Rushmore

  • Serve on red, white, and blue plates

  • Add tiny flag toothpicks

  • Label it: “Limited Government. Maximum Flavor.”
